A short story of me
Hi Everyone, I’m Rajeev Kumar Rai, 29 years old, and I’ve been travelling in India for the past 8 years. It all started when I took my first trip outside of my home city, New Delhi, in the winter of 2016 to Shimla. It was a spontaneous idea, and when we reached Shimla, me and my classmate realized we didn’t have a hotel reservation, so we ended up staying at the bus stand the whole night. It was a cold winter night, and the temperature was -2 to -5 degrees Celsius.
I learned from that experience that travel must be planned ahead of time, but even though things did not go as planned, we had a great time the following morning. Since then, I’ve travelled to many places in India like Dharmshala, McLeodgunj, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Pushkar.
Challenges and Safety issues I faced during travel in India
As far as challenges are concerned during my travel in India, I did not find any major challenges apart from some touts at most railway stations and bus stands in Indian cities. When you arrive at stations or bus stands, they will ask you for a hotel or taxi. The best way to get rid of them is to ignore them. Instead, you can use Google Maps or local transport services run by state governments.
My First International Trip
In January 2024, I made my first international trip to Azerbaijan, UAE, and Iran. Some of you may be wondering where Azerbaijan and Iran are, but if you’re a travel enthusiast or have knowledge of geopolitics, you’re likely aware of that. With an international journey to Azerbaijan, UAE, and Iran, I learned many things about travelling, like visas, the immigration process, international land border crossings, and, much more importantly, cultural differences. And now I’m gearing up for another adventure in spring 2025. I will be covering Southeast Asia. I’ve always dreamed of seeing the world, and I’ll document all my travel experiences on my travel blog, which is nomadicrajeev.com.
My favourite country till now
Azerbaijan is one of my favourite country till now because their visa and immigration policy for Indians are easy. Apart from this, the country is a great choice for the person who wants to explore a country with a European-like culture and tradition. And the best part is that this country offers cheap accommodation and food.
My upcoming plans
I want to explore Southeast Asia. Because ASEAN countries are a paradise for backpackers and digital nomads. And the tropical climate of this region attracts visitors from around the globe.
My Message
I believe that travel has the power to transform us. One day I hope everyone in this world will live with peace and harmony because this is what travel teaches us.
I am going to keep living my dream, and it feels like I’m just getting started. I am planning to continue travelling to far away places and build the strongest travel community on earth!
My main goal is to become an influential travel blogger, inspiring others to explore the world on a budget and sharing valuable insights for solo travellers. Hence, I created this travel blog in August 2024 to share my experiences and help others save money.
